Mesa County
Mesa County real estate is diverse and can accommodate an urban or rural lifestyle - or a mixture of both. Mesa County homes for sale range from new and well-kept single-family homes and condos in Grand Junction, Fruita, and Palisade, to rural land for sale where you can build the home of your dreams from the ground up.
Mesa County is a hub of activity on Colorado's Western Slope. It is home to more than 150,000 residents and about 63,000 housing units spread across communities large and small. It is the fourth largest county in Colorado. The county includes Grand Junction, the state's largest city on the western border, and numerous smaller communities, including Fruita, Palisade, Collbran, and De Beque. You can find cheap houses for sale compared to many other parts of Colorado. There are new houses for sale, townhouses for sale, and property perfect for first-time home buyers.
Mesa County also has Census-designated areas like Clifton, Fruitvale, Loma, Orchard Mesa, and Redlands, and unincorporated regions - namely Carpenter, Gateway, Mack, Mesa, Molina, Plateau City, and Whitewater - that are more rural. The county is named for the many prominent mesas in the vicinity, including Grand Mesa. Farming and livestock are a considerable part of the community, presenting everything from horses and cattle to boundless orchards and orange groves.
Interstate 70 runs through Grand Junction and Mesa County, about 245 miles west of Denver. Mesa County has a total area of about 3,350 square miles. Garfield County borders it to the north, Pitkin County and Gunnison County to the east, Delta County and Montrose County to the south, and Grand County, Utah, to the west. There is property for sale near the interstate and its access roads and homes for sale secluded or in a gated neighborhood.
Mesa County is home to 10 national protected areas, including the White River National Forest, Black Ridge Canyons Wilderness, and Grand Mesa National Forest. It is also home to several state-protected areas, trails, and byways, like the American Discovery Trail, Kokopelli Trail, and Grand Mesa National Scenic and Historic Byway. Mesa County homes for sale offer quick convenience to a tremendous amount of hiking and biking trails, as well as Nordic skiing and endless adventures on the Colorado River.
Neighborhood Highlights:
Grand Junction Regional Airport is less than five miles from downtown Grand Junction. It is one of the state's largest airports, offering numerous inbound and outbound flights daily, including routine flights to Denver and Salt Lake City.
The California Zephyr train makes daily stops at the Amtrak Station in downtown Grand Junction between San Francisco and Chicago. The iconic passenger train provides picturesque views along its cross-country route.
Mesa County Valley School District 51 is the school district in Mesa County, including the Grand Junction area. The tenth-largest school district in the state, classrooms maintain an excellent teacher-to-student ratio while offering a cutting-edge curriculum, competitive sports teams, and highly recognized academic clubs and groups.
