We are excited to welcome the summer season. Rivers are roaring, trails are active and the entire valley feels like it is coming back to a more normal state. In late May, Eagle County began the second in a three-part phased reopening of businesses and services.
Restaurants, hotels, home rentals and activities are gradually welcoming guests while golf courses, hiking trails and rivers are seeing more and more visitors every day. The community effort to protect the health and safety of locals, second homeowners and visitors has been a solid balance between ensuring health and safety precautions of individuals and recognizing the need to reopen our economy and valley.
Real estate activity has remained surprisingly resilient. Our traditional “spring season” was a bit delayed but when in-person showings started in late-April, activity quickly picked up and there remains an impressive demand for primary and second homes in the county.
Residential units under contract are approaching the same levels we saw a year ago, while dollar volume isn’t quite as high since second home buyers are just now coming to the valley. That said, we expect a busy summer with Vail, Beaver Creek and other communities working to ensure that some of our favorite activities and traditions each year remain intact – in one form or another. Questions abound about the real estate market and now more than ever, each micro-market is performing differently. If you have questions about your property, neighborhood or things in general, please contact me anytime to catch-up on the latest happenings. Until then, enjoy our beautiful start to summer!
